"This building has been sitting vacant for more than five years
and has been slowly deteriorating," said Shawn Odden, U-Haul Company of Fargo president. "U-Haul is excited to
renovate this property and bring a facelift to the area."
The recent acquisition of the Fargo facility was driven by U-Haul Company's
Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill
developments to help local communities lower their carbon
footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the
amount of energy and resources required for new-construction
materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of
unused buildings.
Odden said U-Haul will look to fill the store with local hires
to promote job growth within the Fargo community. He expects a staff of 15 or
more Team Members when the facility is fully operational. U-Haul
always encourages local contractors to bid on construction
work.
"The addition of this location on the 13th Avenue corridor will
provide our customers with a convenient location," Odden said. "We
have been underserving West Fargo.
Now that we have a centrally located facility, we can reduce the
length of travel for our customers."
