New Jersey American Water is investing over $3.5 million in new water mains in its Asbury Park, Neptune Township and Ocean Township service areas in Monmouth County. The approximate 23,000 feet of new pipe replaces water main that was installed as far back as the 1920s. The aging water lines will be replaced with ductile iron pipes.

  • 4th Avenue, from Memorial Drive to Prospect Avenue in Asbury Park

In Neptune Township

  • Prospect Avenue, from Brighton Avenue to Oakdale Drive
  • Robbins Road, from Smock Avenue to Brighton Avenue

"This significant improvement project is part of the company's multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its useful life to help ensure continued reliable service,” stated Kevin Keane, senior director of Operations, Coastal Region. "With the installation of the new water mains, customers should experience increased water flows for residences and fire protection, as well as continued improvement in reliability.”

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of April and final street restoration will be completed in the fall of 2017. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
