New Jersey American Water Names Kevin Kirwan Vice President of Operations and Kevin Keane Senior Director of Coastal Operations

New Jersey American Water recently announced that Kevin Kirwan
has been promoted to Vice President of Operations and Kevin Keane
has been promoted to Senior Director of Coastal Operations.

leadership skills, and extensive utility and operations knowledge
and expertise that will help us continue to provide outstanding
water service to our customers,” said William Varley, president of
New Jersey American Water.
As vice president of Operations, Kirwan will oversee all
operations for New Jersey American Water, including Water and
Wastewater Treatment, Transmission and Distribution, Field
Services, SCADA, Water Quality and Environmental Compliance,
Customer Advocacy, Metering and Supply Chain.
In his 31 years with the company, Kirwan has successfully held a
number of management positions. Most recently, he held the role of
senior director, Operations for the Coastal Region of New Jersey.
His other positions included operations manager of Monmouth County
Operations, manager of Production for Monmouth and Ocean counties,
and director of Maintenance Services.
Kirwan has served as a leader and member of many teams and
projects at American Water, including leading the Hurricane Sandy
Barrier Island Restoration project, several technology initiatives
and business development teams.
Kirwan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State
University of New York. He holds a T4, W4 and N licenses from the
N.J. Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Kevin Keane is replacing Kirwan as senior director of Operations
for New Jersey American Water’s Coastal Region. This region
includes the company’s service areas in Atlantic, Cape May,
Monmouth and Ocean counties. Keane will be responsible for water
production, field customer service, water transmission and
distribution operations, and overseeing local construction
projects.
In his 27 years with the company, Keane has worked in
Production, Field Operations and on numerous initiatives and
projects including a large sewer system evaluation, Hurricane Sandy
and the Swimming River Bridge Pipeline Recovery as well as a leader
in driving Field Operational technology improvements.
Hired as a distribution supervisor for construction at the
Shrewsbury Operations Center, he has held roles of district
supervisor, production superintendent, operations superintendent,
network manager, manager of Transmission and Distribution, and most
recently, as manager of Field Operations for Coastal North
Operations.
Keane holds a B.S. in business management from Fairleigh
Dickinson University and a master’s degree in business
administration from Monmouth College. He holds a T3, W4, and C1
licenses from the N.J. DEP.
