CleanTech Lithium appoints CEO with deep Chile experience and connections

CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM:CTL, OTCQX:CTLHF) CEO Ignacio Mehech talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about his priorities following his appointment as the company’s new chief executive. Mehech spoke about the company’s immediate focus and his own background in Chile’s mining sector. He described CleanTech as being at “a very special moment in time”, with several key developments underway including the CEOL (special lithium operation contract) negotiations with Chile’s Ministry of Mining, the delivery of a pre-feasibility study, and the search for a strategic partner. “We have gone all the way to produce lithium carbonate battery grade,” Mehech said, noting that the company has successfully piloted direct lithium extraction (DLE) technologies with its brine projects. Reflecting on his decade of experience in Chile’s mining industry, Mehech outlined his previous roles at Albemarle, including as country manager for Chile and VP of external affairs for Latin America. He stressed the importance of maintaining strong relationships with indigenous communities and government stakeholders in Chile, adding that CleanTech already has “a good relationship” that it must continue building on. ATOME signs milestone EPC deal with Casale for Villeta project

ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) CEO Olivier Mussat talked with Proactive about a landmark milestone for the company’s Villeta green fertiliser project in Paraguay. The company has signed its first definitive engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with Swiss firm Casale S.A. Mussat explained that this agreement marks the world’s first large-scale green hydrogen fertiliser project to reach the EPC stage, underlining its global relevance. “It’s significant for us as a company because we’ve announced that we had been working on the front-end engineering and design for more than two years now,” Mussat said, noting the long-term collaboration with Casale. He highlighted Casale’s industry-leading expertise, describing the firm as the oldest ammonia licensor globally, with the ability to deliver complex, full-chain fertiliser projects. According to Mussat, the partnership serves as a strategic blueprint for Casale’s future growth. Looking ahead, ATOME aims to reach a final investment decision on the Villeta project by the end of the first half of the year. The company is working to finalise offtake agreements and complete financial documentation for both debt and equity funding. Standard Uranium forms alliance with Fleet Space Technologies for exploration at Davidson River

Standard Uranium Vice President of Exploration Sean Hillacre joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a major technological advancement in its exploration strategy through a newly formed strategic partnership with Fleet Space Technologies Canada Corp. This collaboration aims to enhance uranium discovery efforts on the company’s flagship Davidson River Project, located in the prolific southwestern Athabasca Basin—home to some of the world’s richest uranium deposits. Hillacre told Proactive the company will deploy Fleet Space’s cutting-edge Exosphere Multiphysics surveys represents a significant leap forward in exploration methodology. This advanced geophysical program combines real-time 3D Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT) and ground gravity surveys, providing powerful new data layers to improve geological targeting. The technology will be rolled out in spring 2025 across the Warrior, Bronco, and Thunderbird conductors—three of the most promising structural corridors on the Davidson River Project. By integrating ANT and gravity data, the surveys will generate 3D shear velocity models and custom density inversion models, which will serve as critical layers for drill targeting. These models are designed to pinpoint density anomalies in basement rocks, a key indicator of hydrothermal alteration processes often associated with uranium-bearing systems. This approach has been instrumental in the discovery of world-class uranium deposits elsewhere in the southwestern Athabasca Basin, and Standard Uranium aims to replicate that success with a data-driven targeting strategy. VettaFi Head of Energy Research Stacey Morris joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the performance and positioning of the Alerian Midstream Energy Dividend ETF, and to provide a broader outlook on the midstream energy sector in the context of today’s evolving market dynamics. Morris began by explaining the role of the midstream segment within the energy value chain, describing it as the “shipping and handling service” of the industry. Unlike upstream producers that are heavily exposed to commodity price fluctuations, midstream companies are focused on transporting, storing, and processing oil and natural gas—services that are typically governed by long-term, fee-based contracts. This structural model, she emphasized, gives midstream operators stable, predictable cash flows, making them more resilient in volatile or declining energy price environments. The conversation turned to recent weakness in oil markets, with U.S. oil benchmarks falling roughly 17% between April 2 and April 8, 2025. Morris attributed the drop primarily to increased supply from OPEC+ nations and mounting concerns over global economic growth and trade activity. “There’s just been a number of concerns around the outlook for the global economy or trade,” she noted, which has added pressure to oil prices in the short term. However, Morris pointed out that midstream energy assets tend to outperform in such environments. Their reduced sensitivity to commodity pricing and defensive investment characteristics—especially consistent dividend payouts—make them an appealing option for income-focused and risk-averse investors. One of the most compelling parts of the midstream growth story, Morris said, is its exposure to natural gas, which continues to see rising demand from multiple sectors.
