                Sub-division of Ordinary shares
    --Application for Admission of Securities to Listing --

On September 22, 1997, the shareholders of Unilever PLC passed
a resolution to sub-divide each existing Ordinary share of 5p
each into four new oprdinary shares of 1.25p each.  The four-
for-one share split is also being applied to the Ordinary
shares of Unilever NV and each existing Ordinary share of Fl.
4 each will be sub-divided into four Ordinary shares of Fl. 1
each.

Accordingly, application has been made to the London Stock
Exchange Limited for a total of  3,273,467,160 shares of 1.25p
each  ("shares") and 640,165,000 Ordinary shares of FL 1 each
("NV shares") to be admitted to the Official List.

It is expected that permission to admit the new shares and NV
shares will be granted on Wednesday October 8, 1997 and that
dealings will commence on Monday October 13, 1997.

These shares and the NV shares will rank pari passu with the
existing shares and NV shares save that they have a nominal
value of 1.25p and Fl. 1 each, rather than 5p and Fl. 4 each
respectively.
