                       ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING STATEMENT

               SUCCESSFUL JANUARY SALE AND CONTINUED EXPANSION

ScS Upholstery plc, the fully listed furniture retailer, is holding its Annual
General Meeting at 12 noon today.

Tony McCann, Chairman, will be updating the meeting on current trading results
and outlook saying:

"I am very pleased to report that the January sale period has exceeded our
expectations resulting in total sales order intake for the first 16 weeks
being very substantially higher than the same period last year.  This is, in
most part, due to the considerable growth of the Group since December 1999,
with 14 new stores increasing selling space by 77%. Also like for like sales
order intake continues to strengthen and is now 4% up against the same 16 week
period last year. Gross profit margin has been maintained.

The three latest stores opened in Leeds, Beckton (October 2000) and Guildford
(Boxing Day) are all trading successfully. Our expansion plans for the
remainder of this financial year are to open three more stores in the second
half. With this excellent start to the year, I remain confident of reporting
another successful result for this financial year."
