                      PLANTATION & GENERAL INVESTMENTS PLC

Plantation & General Investments plc announces that it has disposed of the
Nicholl and Wood division of P&G Industries plc which was engaged in the
manufacture of steel shelving and sundry pressings.


The total consideration, including the discharge of bank borrowings, amounting
to £766,000 was paid in cash on completion and was approximately equal to the
net book value of the net assets disposed of. The proceeds have been used to
reduce Group borrowings.


For the year ended 31st December 2001, the Nicholl & Wood division recorded a
profit before taxation of £6,000.


The disposal continues the Group's strategy of withdrawing from non-core
activities.
