Norwich Union plc notified API Group plc on 15 July 1997 that, following a
purchase of 180,000 ordinary 25p shares in the Company on 14 July 1997, it is
interested in 962,386 ordinary shares, representing 3.42 per cent. of the
Company's total issued ordinary share capital.
