                              Notifiable Interest


On 30 September 2004 the Company was informed by Hermes Administration Services
Limited ("Hermes") that as a result of a loan of 268,450 ordinary shares of 25 p
each in the capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") BriTel Fund Trustees
Limited, a client of Hermes, now has direct holding of 9,361,169 Ordinary Shares
representing 4.95 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.


The total holding of 9,629,619 Ordinary Shares, representing 5.09% of the issued
share capital of the Company, is held as follows;
