Konecranes Training Institute announces new online version of its crane inspection refresher course
June 28 2017 - 7:00AM
Overhead crane inspectors now have a more convenient and
less expensive option to renew their credentials.
Konecranes Training Institute now offers past attendees of its
overhead crane inspection course whose cards are at or near the
two-year expiration date an opportunity to renew their credentials
online. Created with a professional online training development
partner who works with many Fortune 500 companies, Konecranes
Online Overhead Crane Inspection Refresher course is self-paced,
condensing the normal eight-hour instructor-led course into a
three-to-five-hour online experience that the candidate can
complete at work or at home.
Course objectives include review of all pertinent codes and
regulations, an understanding of how to interpret applicable
sections of OSHA title 29 regulations, a working knowledge of
ANSI/ASME Standard B30, record keeping, and the ability to perform
consistent, comprehensive crane inspections.
The online course, which features detailed content from the
Konecranes instructor-led course, includes 14 lessons and requires
a mid-term and final exam, along with a review of course materials.
Students can refer to the books from their original course, or can
purchase a new bundle of specifications from Konecranes STORE at an
additional cost.
“This
online course has the potential to save the student or his employer
over $1,000 in travel, lodging, meals and lost work hours,”
says Jim Lang, general manager of Konecranes Training Institute.
“Typically, students who fly to our campus in New Berlin, Wisconsin
spend two days on travel and one day taking the course. This
solution eliminates the cost of travel and two lost work days.”
According to Lang, the course is highly interactive and keeps
the participant’s attention with several different types of
activities. Since it is a “refresher,” anyone enrolling must have
taken the initial three-to-four-day crane inspection certification
course from Konecranes Training Institute in the past, within two
years and six months. (There is a six-month grace period for
renewal.) Konecranes confirms eligibility when the candidate signs
up.
“This online inspection refresher course is something that our
customers have been asking us to offer for some time,” says Lang.
“It gives them flexibility and saves time and money. It helps
customers comply with all applicable OSHA requirements while
improving equipment reliability and most importantly, safety.”
Konecranes Training Institute’s instructor-led crane inspection
refresher classes, taught both at the main campus and in a rotating
schedule of 40 cities nationwide, typically re-certify around 800
crane inspectors each year. The Institute educates more than 10,000
students annually from its complete catalog of courses relating to
crane operators, management, maintenance, safety, electrical
controls, mobile cranes, portal cranes and inspections. More
information on all courses is available at www.cranetrainingu.com.
