                    Buy Back of Own Shares for Cancellation

Dewhurst plc announces that on 1 October 2007, pursuant to the authority granted
by shareholders in general meeting, it purchased 600,000 of its own 'A' non
voting ordinary shares of 10p nominal value each ("A Shares") for cancellation.
The shares were purchased at 170p each. The total number of A Shares now in
issue is 5,681,198.
