DOBBIES GARDEN CENTRES PLC ("Dobbies" or "the Company")

Completion of the acquisition of Cross Lanes Farm Garden Centre ("Cross
Lanes")

Further to the exchange of contracts announced on 10 September 2001, Dobbies
today confirms completion of the acquisition of the business, fixed assets and
stock from Cross Lanes for a consideration of #4.3m. In addition, the Company
has issued 481,928 new ordinary shares at 415p per share with new
institutional investors, raising #2m. of cash.
