           CMG plc: Non-executive director appointed

CMG plc today announces the appointment of Mr. Murray Stuart
CBE as a non-executive director of the CMG plc Group board.

Mr. Stuart, 64, is currently Chairman of Scottish Power plc
where he has been a member of the Board since 1990 and
Chairman since 1992. He is also Chairman of Intermediate
Capital Group plc, a non-executive Director of the Royal Bank
of Scotland and Chairman of Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr. Stuart was a member of the Audit Commission from 1986 to
1995, the last 4 years as Deputy Chairman. He was awarded his
CBE in the June 1995 Honours list for services to the
Commission.

Mr Stuart brings to CMG many years' boardroom-level and senior
management experience in the automotive, IT, packaging,
engineering and retail sectors with companies such as Ford,
ICL and Metal Box.  He has over 10 years' experience at
Chairman or Chief Executive level.

The other CMG non-executive directors are Joop Feilzer, Vice-
Chairman of Fortis AMEV NV, Mr. Wilko Borner, formerly Chief
Executive of the Volksfursorge Insurance Group, Angus Young,
formerly senior partner of Radcliffes & Co. and Jack Mather,
formerly Chief Executive of NFC plc. Mr Mather will be
retiring from the Board at the conclusion of the AGM on 12
May.
