                     APPOINTMENT OF GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Capital Radio plc, one of the UK's leading music entertainment groups, today
announces that it has appointed David Mansfield as Group Chief Executive.  He
succeeds Richard Eyre, who will be leaving on 30 September to take up a
position as Chief Executive of ITV.

David Mansfield, 43, has been with Capital Radio for over four years, latterly
as Group Managing Director with overall responsibility for the group's
operations.  Prior to becoming Group Managing Director, he was Group
Commercial Director.

Ian Irvine, Chairman of Capital Radio plc, commented:

"Richard has made an enormous contribution to the development of Capital
Radio.  We wish him well in his new role at ITV.

"David has worked alongside Richard leading a strong executive team.  He has
been closely involved in the development of strategy and the operations of the
business for four years, and the scale of his contribution to the company was
acknowledged earlier this year by his promotion to the position of Group
Managing Director."
