Bell Atlantic Declares $0.385-Per-Share
         Quarterly Dividend

NEW YORK - The Board of Directors of Bell Atlantic Corp. (NYSE:BEL) today
declared a quarterly dividend of $0.385 per share, unchanged from the previous
quarter, and payable on February 1, 2000 to shareowners of record at the close
of business on January 10, 2000.  Bell Atlantic has approximately one million
registered shareowners and 1.55 billion shares of common stock outstanding.
