Perstorp sells chemical plants
in Venezuela and China

Perstorp has concluded agreements regarding the construction of two formalin
plants in Venezuela and China. This means that the Group has sold six such
plants in the past half year and has thus strengthened its position as the
world's leading supplier of plants for the production of formalin. The combined
order value for the two plants, which will be put into operation during 2001, is
approximately SEK 65 million. The plants are being sold by the subsidiary
Perstorp Formox and will be based on proprietary technology.

The purchaser of the Venezuelan plant is Oxinova SA, a joint-venture company
owned by Oxiquim SA and Terranova International SA, two Chilean companies. The
plant will be constructed close to Puerto Ordaz and have an annual capacity of
76,000 tons of formalin, which will be used in the production of particleboard.
Perstorp has already delivered two formalin plants to Oxiquim.

The purchaser of the Chinese plant is Shanxi Sanwei Group Co. Ltd., based in
Hong Tong, in the Shanxi province. This plant, the fourth to be sold by
Perstorp to China, will have an annual capacity of 60,000 tons of formalin.

Technology from Perstorp Formox accounts for more than half of the total
production capacity for formalin that has been installed worldwide in the past
ten years. The company is part of Perstorp Chemicals, which has annual sales of
approximately SEK 4.5 billion, with manufacturing operations in several
countries in Europe, the US, South America and Asia. Perstorp Chemicals'
operations are based on specialized chemical products that represent a high
value for industrial customers. The Perstorp Group as a whole had sales of
slightly more than SEK 10 billion in 1999.
