STOCKHOLM--Swedbank AB said Tuesday it has established a strategic collaboration with crowdfunding platform Pepins.

Through the partnership, Swedbank's non-listed corporate clients will have the opportunity to present their case to Pepins together with their advisor from the bank and discuss a potential issuance of shares on Pepins' platform.

Such an issuance would give the company access to Pepins' 70,000 investors, it said.

"Growth companies tend to have large capital needs and bank loans are not always the most optimal form of funding," Swedbank said.

"Diversifying funding sources is often a good way for these companies to both strengthen their credit situation and mature as organizations," the bank added.

Pepins works with capital rounds from around 10 million Swedish kronor up to 90 million Swedish kronor ($1.2 million-$10.7 million), and Swedbank's investment bank works in capital rounds from around SEK100 million and up.

Pepins operates a platform for digital capital raising and trading in unlisted companies. Since inception it has raised over SEK1 billion for around 40 companies.
