Sir Tom is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie, for his role as Mr. Dorrit in "Little Dorrit," a PBS co-production by the BBC and NOVA/WGBH Boston. Sir Tom Courtenay's film acting credits include "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" (1962), "Billy Liar" (1963), "Dr. Zhivago" (1965), "The Dresser" (1983), "Nicholas Nickleby" (2002) and "The Golden Compass" (2007). He returned to theatre a stage actor in the 1960s and received a knighthood in February 2001 for forty years service to cinema and theatre. Sir Tom Courtenay is the President of Hull City A.F.C.'s Official Supporters Club. In 1999 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Hull University. In 2003 he appeared on the West End stage again in the one-man show "Pretending To Be Me," as Philip Larkin.
