markets, today announced the introduction of its mobile Voice over
Internet Protocol (VoIP) service called Smart Call. Using TeleSym's
SymPhone Enterprise VoIP software, the award-winning software for
making top-quality and secure voice calls from mobile computers,
Smart Call users can call any cell phone or regular phone anywhere
in the world from a PC or Pocket PC-compatible devices such as
laptops and PDAs with a broadband or wireless connection. Ecuity
has planned a phased rollout. In this initial stage users can
select a local phone number for a limited number of states and
communities. Before the end of August, users will be able to select
numbers in more than 2,500 locations across the United States.
Additionally, users can maintain multiple phone numbers from
multiple areas. In addition to individual calls, a virtual PBX
enables users to gain remote access to their office PBX system
through a Web interface. The remote user can then make calls to
