Perini Building Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Perini Corp. (NYSE: PCR), completed Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa on schedule and on budget. Red Rock is the third major resort property Perini has built for Station Casinos Inc. (NYSE: STN), one of the leading gaming corporations in the nation. Perini was also the general contractor for Green Valley Ranch, another luxury resort in Henderson, Nev., and for Thunder Valley Casino, California. Red Rock is the first billion-dollar resort built off the Las Vegas Strip. According to Leo Estrada, project manager for Perini Building Co., "The resort's contemporary interior is designed with a host of unique, high-end finishes and products -- much more so than usual. At Red Rock 99% of the materials you see are natural, which is unique for such a large-scale project. The resort's exterior is intentionally low key to blend with the surrounding Red Rock National Park." The property is being built in two phases. Phase I features 415 rooms and suites. Phase II will add an additional 435 rooms for a total of 850 rooms. Perini is the general contractor for both phases. In addition to the hotel tower, Perini completed the resort's casino, featuring an exclusive master-designed poker room; 94,000 square feet of meeting and convention space; a 35,000-square-foot spa; nine full-service restaurants; and the resort's centerpiece, the "backyard" pool area. The three-acre backyard has a main pool and beach area, an interactive fountain feature, a private pool area, cabanas, wading pools and a poolside gaming pit.
