McDonald's Corp. on Wednesday said it named Jill McDonald executive vice president and president of international operated markets.

The Chicago fast-food giant said Ms. McDonald, who joins on Sept. 5, will oversee its five largest wholly-owned international markets and its international operated markets business unit, consisting of its remaining wholly-owned international markets.

Ms. McDonald, who has been serving as chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Co.'s Costa Coffee unit, was previously with McDonald's from 2006 to 2015, including a stint as U.K. CEO and president of North Europe.

Last month, McDonald's said Ian Borden, a 30-year system veteran who serves as president of international operations, will succeed Kevin Ozan as chief financial officer on Sept. 1.

As part of the executive changes, McDonald's said it is returning to a structure of dedicated leadership overseeing each of its international segments.

The company said Jo Sempels, another three-decade veteran, will continue to lead its international developmental licensed markets as president, and that his responsibilities will now include its fast-growing China business.
