Gateway Rounds Out Senior Management Team With Appointment of Bruce
W. Smith to Head Professional Sales POWAY and IRVINE, Calif., June

appointed Bruce W. Smith, a seasoned executive with nearly 25 years
experience in sales and marketing roles, to serve as senior vice
president, Gateway Professional, and lead the company's expansion
into the SMB, mid-enterprise, education and government sectors.

appointment completes Gateway's new senior leadership team,
following its acquisition of eMachines, Inc. in March. The new team
includes 13 senior vice presidents from eMachines, Gateway and
outside companies. Mr. Smith, age 51, has served since 2002 as
senior vice president, North America, for Equant, a Herndon,
Va.-based global telecommunications-services company. He spent the
previous four years in global sales roles at KPN Qwest, a joint
venture between Holland's KPN and Qwest of the United States, and
at Infonet Services Corp. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years
in sales and marketing management positions for AT&T. Mr. Smith
has a master's degree in history from the University of Virginia
and a bachelor's degree in history from The Johns Hopkins
