Standard & Poor's said late Thursday that NRG Energy Inc. (NRG) will replace Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA) in the S&P 500 after Oracle Corp. (ORCL) closes its acquisition of Sun.

The change will take place at the close of trading on a date to be announced.
