Metropolitan Airport, and the first new airline service to
Louisiana's capital in more than 20 years DENVER, Aug. 15
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Beginning today, Wednesday, Aug. 15,
Frontier will start non-stop service between its Denver
International Airport (DEN) hub and Baton Rouge Metropolitan
Airport (BTR). The new, twice-daily service connects travelers from
the West to southern beauty, Creole culture and Cajun cuisine in
the heart of Louisiana's Plantation Country, and will provide Red
Stick travelers with convenient connections to Frontier cities such
as Las Vegas, Phoenix and Calgary. Frontier will be the only
low-cost carrier serving Baton Rouge, providing the first new
airline service to Louisiana's capital city in 21 years. Baton
Rouge is one of the largest cities on the Mississippi River and is
Louisiana's second most populous city with more then 600,000
residents. It provides a gateway to the heart of southeastern
Louisiana's Cajun County. The city's unique cultural influences can
be seen in historical attractions including plantations along River
Road, heard in the sound of Zydeco music and tasted in Cajun
cuisine favorites including crawfish, jambalaya and gumbo. "Today
marks an historic occasion as a new frontier is inaugurated for our
passengers to explore and enjoy," stated Anthony J. Marino,
Director of Aviation - Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. "The
maiden voyage from Baton Rouge to Denver and vice versa will ensure
the residents of Baton Rouge and the surrounding area more options,
lower fares, and superior service. Frontier, their Denver hub, four
countries, and over 60 destinations are a perfect fit for our
passengers originating in Louisiana. We are elated and grateful to
welcome our fifth major airline and the first low-fare carrier to
serve the Baton Rouge market. We are looking forward to future
expansion and additions from Frontier." "We are proud to be the
first new airline to start service to Baton Rouge in more than 20
years and we look forward to bringing our superior on-time service,
comfortable aircraft and in-flight entertainment to travelers on
this route," said John Happ, senior vice president of marketing and
planning for Frontier. "As the only low-cost carrier serving Baton
Rouge, we are excited to make travel to Denver and the Rocky
