Denver's Favorite Animal Winner Announced February 25th in a Television Spot During the 79th Academy Awards DENVER, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Denver's favorite airline, Frontier (NASDAQ:FRNT), announced tonight that The Penguins -- Joe, Jim, Jay and Gary -- have been named Denver's Favorite Animal wrapping up a five-week campaign that attracted millions of votes through Campaign Headquarters at http://www.frontierairlines.com/. The winning Penguins were announced Sunday evening in a special television spot that aired during the 79th Academy Awards program. In the final spot, Larry the Lynx had the honors of opening the traditional "Oscar-like" envelope to announce the winning Penguins. Larry the Lynx was a surprising presenter given that he ran a campaign platform encouraging Frontier fans not to vote because he thought the campaign was an egotistical popularity contest. Regardless, Larry did the honors and after Larry announced the winning Penguins, the spot cut to a flashback in Antarctica where penguins were lined up for miles and miles to vote for Joe, Jim Jay and Gary. "It was an exciting race but The Penguins won by a landslide and won the hearts and votes of millions," said Diane Willmann, Frontier Airlines director of advertising. "We hope Frontier fans everywhere, especially here in Colorado, have enjoyed seeing the animals duke it out to earn the distinct honor of being chosen as 'Denver's Favorite Animal.'" Frontier's "Denver's Favorite Animal" campaign combined 15 different television spots airing in the Denver market, plus additional commercials posted on the popular YouTube video sharing website; an online Campaign Headquarters at http://www.frontierairlines.com/, including a campaign blog with more than 130 pages of postings; a 14-minute podcast featuring a candidates' debate, which can be downloaded from the Frontier website or from the iTunes Music Store; and an online campaign merchandise store that has sold more than 900 "press kits," featuring T-shirts, buttons and stickers for each candidate.
