Company Extends Quality Certification to Include New Defense - Aerospace AS9100 Standard SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Endwave Corporation (NASDAQ:ENWV), a leading provider of high-frequency RF modules for telecommunications networks, defense electronics, and homeland security systems, today announced that they have extended the company's ISO 9001-2000 standard for Quality Management Systems to the AS9100:2004 standard. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) completed the certification for the commercial electronics business of Endwave, as well as the defense and other government end-use business of Endwave Defense Systems. This quality standard extension now applies to all Endwave operations across the United States, and provides a direct connection of quality management systems to all organizational processes. Initially released in late 1999 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in the Americas and the European Association of Aerospace Industries in Europe, AS9100 unifies the requirements outlined in the SAE's AS9000 and Europe's pnRN900-1 standards. Since then, Japan and other Asian countries have followed suit, adding to the cooperative effort of the International Aerospace Quality Group. The AS9100 Standard has approximately 80 additional requirements and 18 amplifications of the popular ISO 9001:2000 Standard. Representing the first international effort to formulate a quality management system standard specifically for the aerospace industry, the AS9100 standard supplements ISO 9001 by addressing the additional expectations of the aerospace industry that are essential to ensure product, process, and service quality. AS9100 is becoming increasingly important to many of the US defense prime contractors who are looking to align their supply chain partners to this stringent quality standard.
