EnSave, Inc. (EnSave) and Ecology and Environment, Inc. (E & E)
(NASDAQ: EEI) are partnering to launch a new service for farmers:
the Landscape Agricultural Energy Management Plan (Landscape
AgEMP). The Landscape AgEMP is an audit of energy uses on farm
landscapes such as tillage, harvesting, and waste management. The
audits quantify current farm energy use and provide specific,
cost-effective recommendations to achieve farm production goals
while utilizing energy more efficiently.
"There are a lot of farmers who want to be able to continue to
produce their crops and other farm products while reducing costs
and increasing their energy independence," says Craig Metz, EnSave
President and CEO. "The EnSave/E & E partnership is here to
assist them." The Landscape AgEMP takes a detailed look at where
energy is used and provides farmers with choices that meet farm
production needs while using energy with greater efficiency.
Landscape AgEMP customers can use these audits to tap into federal
programs to help underwrite plan implementation such as the USDA
Natural Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS's) Environmental
Quality Incentives Program.
The partnership of EnSave and E & E brings together EnSave's
20 years of agricultural energy conservation expertise and E &
E's 40 years of experience providing solutions to environmental
problems that enable resource users to achieve their business
goals. EnSave is the United States' leading provider of farm energy
audits and farm energy management plans. E & E is a recognized
global leader in environmental management employing over 1,150
respected experts in 85 engineering and scientific disciplines in
59 offices around the globe.
The Landscape AgEMP service is available now, in time for USDA
program sign-up for FY 2012. National application deadlines for
2012 are February 3, March 30, and June 1, and interested farmers
should either call their local NRCS office or EnSave's program
hotline at (800) 732-1399 in order to learn more about the sign-up
process for Landscape AgEMPs. "While the standards to conduct
landscape AgEMPs were created a few years ago, this service has not
been widely available. EnSave and E & E will provide this
service in a limited number of states initially, but plan to expand
it to most states and the Caribbean basin," says David Weeks, E
& E's Project Manager for Landscape Agricultural Energy
Management Planning.
