October 17 2006 - 1:11PM
Business Wire
QuadraMed Corporation (Amex:QD) today announced that Midland
Memorial Hospital (MMH), Midland, Texas, has awarded the company a
contract to implement an enterprise Revenue Cycle Management
solution across the hospitals two area campuses. Terms of the
agreement, effective immediately, fund $1.5 million for software
and installation, with a total investment of $2.1 million for all
products and support services over a three year period. QuadraMed
will interface the Revenue Cycle Management system with Midland
Memorials OpenVista EHR (Electronic Health Record). QuadraMeds
comprehensive Affinity Revenue Cycle Management solution includes
Registration, EDM (Electronic Document Management), EDI (Electronic
Data Interchange), Patient Accounting, and for access management,
QuadraMed Smart Identity Management solutions and Enterprise
Scheduling. The system will enable MMH to manage its revenue cycle
in real time from a secure central database. Benefits include
reduced claim denials and days in A/R, and the functionality to
establish more efficient enterprise-wide workflow processes. In
addition to significantly improving the revenue cycle, QuadraMeds
Smart Identity Management solutions will assist MMH efforts to
increase patient safety by preventing the creation of duplicate
patient records. Increasing patient safety and quality of care
begins with accurately identifying the patient and knowing their
previous history of medications, allergies, treatments and visits.
This ensures that clinicians have all the information they need in
a single electronic record to provide patients with safe,
cost-effective care and improved outcomes, regardless of which
campus they visit. Effective Revenue Cycle Management is critical
to providing quality patient care and controlling the overall costs
of that care, said Larry Sanz, MMH Chief Financial Officer. In an
era of declining margins and increased regulation, we realized
Midland Memorial needed better tools if we were to improve
operational metrics, track key performance indicators, and remain
in compliance. Our system selection team was tasked to review
numerous competitive vendors to determine which could best help us
meet these goals in the most cost-effective manner. The decision
to partner with QuadraMed was based upon the companys ability to
provide a comprehensive system proven to significantly enhance
revenue cycle management and efficiency, as well as its outstanding
reputation for successful implementations and long-term support. To
continue providing superior healthcare, Midland Memorial must
remain financially viable. This system will enable us to meet that
challenge and grow with us to address future needs. MMH is a fully
accredited acute care institution currently licensed for 320 beds,
with over 1,400 employees and more than 200 admitting physicians.
According to Keith Hagen, QuadraMed President and CEO, Midland
Memorial has taken an innovative approach to implementing
technology that other healthcare providers should emulate to assure
their financial well being. By integrating our enterprise Revenue
Cycle Management solution with the existing EHR, Midland Memorial
will receive the benefits of QuadraMeds Care-Based Revenue Cycle
process, which enables healthcare providers to leverage their
quality of care into improved financial outcomes. For the seventh
time in the past nine years, QuadraMed Affinity was honored with a
prestigious Best in KLAS award for Acute Care Registration,
Scheduling & Patient Accounting in the December 2005 edition
of the Top 20 Year-End Best in KLAS Awards. The website for
