Royal Dutch Shell PLC said Thursday that it will build a 820,000 metric ton-a-year biofuels facility at its Energy and Chemicals Park in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The energy company said it has reached a final investment decision on the project, which is expected to start production of low-carbon fuels in 2024.

Shell said the site will be among the biggest in Europe to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel made from waste.
