Infineon Technologies AG said Tuesday that it has appointed Michael Boll as head of public policy.

Mr. Boll will have global responsibility for political communications, the German chip maker said, and will report to Bernd Hops, head of communications and public policy. Mr. Boll succeeds Alfred Hoffmann, who has held the post since 1999, the company said.

Mr. Boll joins Infineon from EUTOP International GmbH, where he is currently director.
