Fifth Third Donates $100,000 to American Red Cross for Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts

Fifth Third today announced a $100,000 donation to the American
Red Cross in support of relief efforts in the aftermath of
Hurricane Florence. The donation is designated for the states of
North Carolina and South Carolina and is being funded through the
Fifth Third Foundation.
Fifth Third Regional President Lee Fite, said, “In the wake of
Hurricane Florence, we understand that our fellow citizens, many of
them our employees and customers, are hurting and encountering
hardship from the hurricane and the flooding it left in its wake.
It’s important for us to financially support relief efforts.”
“At a time when Fifth Third is healing from its own tragedy in
Cincinnati, the company has made this very generous contribution to
Hurricane Florence relief efforts,” said Stephanie Byrd, CEO of the
American Red Cross of Greater Cincinnati. “I have seen first-hand
the destruction caused by this horrific storm. Lives have been
permanently changed. With this gift, Fifth Third will restore hope
and give much-needed relief to the residents of North Carolina and
South Carolina who’ve been completely devastated by Hurricane
Florence.”
Specific Fifth Third financial centers in North Carolina are
serving as collection points for community donations of supplies
and items, including bottled water, bleach, mops, diapers, paper
products, cleaning supplies, toiletries, baby supplies and
non-perishable foods by September 28.
The financial centers accepting donations of these items
are:
- University, 8601 J.M. Keynes Drive,
Charlotte.
- South Park, 6310 Fairview Road,
Charlotte.
- Cornelius, 20301 W. Catawba Avenue,
Cornelius.
- Wilmar, 871 Church Street North,
Concord.
- The Atrium, 2501 Blue Ridge Road,
Raleigh.
- Lincolnton Main, 402 East Main Street,
Lincolnton.
Community members wishing to donate financially can also
contribute at Fifth Third branches throughout its footprint.
Proceeds will go to the United Way Hurricane Florence Recovery
Fund.
