NEW YORK and TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 28,
2017 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE:
WCG) and the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NYCHCC)
announced today that WellCare of New
York was awarded the inaugural Anthony Chiarelli Employment
Engagement Award in honor of its "successful practices [that] have
provided compelling results on the value of diversity in corporate
America."
Alex Diaz, senior manager of
Medicaid Sales for WellCare, accepted the award on behalf of the

their support and commitment to the Hispanic community, especially

as WellCare's corporate practices are a model worth emulating,"

As home to more than 1 million Puerto Ricans, many New Yorkers
had family members impacted by the destruction caused this fall by
Hurricane Maria. To support this community, Dr. Sander Koyfman, WellCare of New York's behavioral health behavioral health
medical director, joined the Dominican Medical-Dental Community
Outreach Society to deliver medical supplies and services to the
island. In addition, associates provided water and other supplies
for relief efforts.
"WellCare of New York is

Engagement Award. Our culture is built around doing the right thing
to keep the trust of those we serve and with whom we work," said
John J. Burke, WellCare's state

recognizes the efforts of our entire team to help our communities
live better, healthier lives."
The award is named for Anthony "Tony" Chiarelli, who passed away
April 2017 after battling leukemia. A
WellCare of New York marketing
community outreach manager, Chiarelli worked closely with elected
officials, community organizations, the New York Police Department, and others
throughout the Northeast to help ensure residents have the
