Neural Audio Corporation Introduces the Spatial Environment Engine (SEE) and Development System (SEEDS) for Auto and Home at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Neural Audio Corporation, a leading provider of digital signal processing technology for the broadcast industry, will introduce its Spatial Environment Engine (SEE) N-Channel Rendering technology at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show, January 6-9, Las Vegas. SEE is a consumer version of SEEDS, a development system designed to facilitate multichannel renderings tests for OEMs. SEEDS renders a 2-D stereo image from as few as two speakers to as many as 256. Neural Audio's SEE achieves compelling multichannel rendering by using a (patent pending) spatial downmixing and rendering process. On the broadcast side, 5.1 content is downmixed to 2-D stereo via Neural/Harris Broadcast Communications Division's 5225 Mix-Edit Appliance, allowing digital broadcasters to transmit 5.1 encoded surround sound. Nearly 300 radio stations in more than 100 U.S. markets across 38 states (reaching 67 percent of the U.S. population) have already licensed HD Radio(TM) technology, and are either using or ready for Neural's approved surround sound broadcast technology. On the consumer side, the 2-D stereo downmix may be rendered to 5.1 or as many loudspeakers as desired. "Surround sound at the local movie theater and surround sound with Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) can be very entertaining," said Mark Seigle, Neural Audio Corporation president and chief marketing officer. "If you are going to do a radio broadcast in surround, it had better be good, since expectations are high. Neural's SEE technology consistently delivers a compelling experience." Over several years, Neural Audio, teaming with Harris Corporation's Broadcast Communications Division, has become the leading developer of audio and surround sound technology for the rollout of HD Radio. Among the leading radio and television broadcasters using Neural Audio technology are XM Radio, Inc., NBC, Fox, Clear Channel, NPR, Infinity and Viacom. Neural Audio technology was a vital part of the first terrestrial digital broadcast of 5.1 surround sound for NPR's 2004 "Toast of the Nation" New Year's Eve Event. Neural surround technology has also been successfully employed on KUVO-FM's live broadcast of three-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves in September of 2004, HD Radio's first 5.1 live event. And Neural Audio was the first to broadcast 5.1 surround sound using the HD Radio system. Neural Audio has been chosen as the exclusive digital audio processing system for the leading radio satellite broadcaster, XM Radio, Inc. Neural Audio's unique and innovative algorithms optimize the XM broadcast system and create superior audio quality remarkably close to compact disc for XM listeners.
