Aflac applauded for excellence in workforce diversity for the second consecutive year COLUMBUS, Ga., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Enterprise magazine has named Aflac to its 40 Best Companies for Diversity list, citing Aflac's strength in the area of minority representation within senior management and its employee base. In the publication's July issue, Aflac is recognized for the second consecutive year as a top company for diversity and will be featured in the cover story. "We are delighted to be recognized for our many accomplishments within the diversity arena," stated Dan Amos, Aflac's chairman and CEO. "Our commitment starts with each employee and extends throughout the organization and into the communities we live in." Aflac is one of only four Georgia companies featured in the annual listing. Black Enterprise magazine recognized the company for its impressive showing in general workforce diversity. To compile the listing, the publication evaluated organizations on their diversity programs, consulted with diversity experts and corporate diversity officers, and conducted an extensive survey of 1,000 of America's largest publicly traded companies and 50 leading global companies with significant U.S. operations. "The BE 40 Best Companies for Diversity truly understand how critically valuable a diverse workforce and inclusive business practices are to the success of their operations," said Black Enterprise President and CEO Butch Graves. "These companies are setting the standard for corporate America, and it is our sincere hope that other companies will follow their lead and build businesses that are more reflective of the society in which we live." The second annual listing of Black Enterprise's Best Companies for Diversity revealed the top performers in supplier, workforce, management and board diversity. The magazine also identified leaders in marketing spending to reach minority consumers. "Our company diversity efforts are supported from top management because they are vital to the way we conduct business and live our daily lives," said Brenda Mullins, second vice president and diversity officer for Aflac Human Resources. Earlier this year, Aflac was recognized as a Top Company in Supplier Diversity by Hispanic Trends magazine and named Georgia's Company of the Year by Business to Business magazine.
