RE:                          PROGRESS DRILLING REPORT FOR CHINGUETTI 4-4 
                             APPRAISAL WELL, OFFSHORE MAURITANIA



Dear Sir/Madam



Hardman Resources Ltd ("Hardman") provides the following progress report on the
drilling of the Chinguetti 4-4 appraisal well, offshore Mauritania.


Progress:                         Drilled 121/4 inch (311 mm) hole to total depth of 2,986 metres.
                                  Preparing to run wireline logs.
(Previous 24 hours to 14:00 hours
(Perth) on 8/10/02)

                                  Note:     1.  All reported depths are referenced to the rig rotary
                                                table.



                                                2.  A decision was made to extend the total depth (TD) of
                                  the well on 8/10/02 from the previously advised planned total depth of
                                  2,925 metres after evaluation of the cores cut in the reservoir section.


Geology & Hydrocarbon Shows:      Hydrocarbon shows will only be reported after wireline logs have been
                                  run and evaluated. (Expected to be 2-3 days).

Prospect Description:             The Chinguetti 4-4 well is being drilled on the southern downthrown
                                  flank of the Chinguetti structure, approximately 1.5 kilometres east of
                                  the Chinguetti-1 discovery well.



Equity participation in the Chinguetti 4-4 appraisal well is as follows:



              Hardman Resources Ltd                           21.6%

              Fusion Oil & Gas NL                              6.0%

              Roc Oil (Mauritania) Company                     2.4%

              Agip Mauritania BV                              35.0%

              Woodside Mauritania Pty Ltd                     35.0%
