RE: WIRELINE LOGS CONFIRM OIL BEARING
SANDS IN CHINGUETTI 4-2, OFFSHORE MAURITANIA

Dear Sir/Madam

Hardman Resources Ltd ("Hardman") is pleased to advise that preliminary
evaluation of wireline log data has confirmed the presence of significant oil
bearing sands in the Chinguetti 4-2 well, offshore Mauritania, after the well
reached total depth of 2,655 metres. A decision has now been made to production
test the well.

Since the last progress report (13/8/02) the cored interval from 2,385 to 2,428
metres was opened from 8 1/2 to 12 1/4 inches, a 12 1/4 inch (311mm) hole was
drilled to total depth of 2,655 metres and acquisition of wireline evaluation
logs was commenced.

Preliminary evaluation of the wireline log data indicates that the well has
intersected several oil bearing sandstones in the primary objective over a gross
hydrocarbon interval in the well of 94 metres. A shallower zone contains gas
bearing sandstones over a 3 metre interval.

The logging and evaluation programme is continuing and wireline samples of the
fluid in the well are currently being obtained. Following completion of the
logging programme, the Joint Venture has agreed to undertake production testing
over portions of the primary oil zone during the next two week period after the
running and cementing of 9 5/8 inch casing.

Note: All reported depths are referenced to the rig rotary table.

Prospect Description:

Chinguetti 4-2 is located in PSC Area B. The well is being drilled on the
northern (upthrown) flank of the Chinguetti structure, approximately 2.5

downthrown fault block. This well is considered to be a significant step out
from the discovery well and is evaluating a geologically separate portion of the
prospect. Equity participation in the Chinguetti 4-2 well is as follows:

Hardman Resources Ltd 21.6%

Yours sincerely
