Brazil's mobile-phone subscriptions increased to 236 million in November, up 1.92% from October, according to figures released Tuesday by telecommunications regulator Anatel.

New subscriptions in November totaled 4.45 million.

Telecomunicacoes de Sao Paulo SA (VIV), also known as Vivo, remained the market leader in November with a 29.64% share. Vivo is controlled by Spain's Telefonica SA (TEF).

TIM Participacoes SA (TCSL4.BR) was second with a 26.03% share of the market. TIM is the local unit of Telecom Italia SpA (TIT.MI).

Claro, the local unit of Mexico's America Movil SA (AMX.MX), ranked third with 25.09% of the market.

In fourth place, mobile-phone operator Tele Norte Leste SA (TNE, TNLP4.BR), or Oi, captured 18.92% of the market.
