Global Industrial Canada, a subsidiary of Systemax Inc. (NYSE: SYX), announced that its recently launched B2B web site for Canadian customers at www.GlobalIndustrial.ca now offers more than 325,000 industrial products ranging from industrial fasteners to material handling equipment to plumbing supplies.

The e-Commerce site is modeled off of the successful Global Industrial (www.GlobalIndustrial.com) site in the United States, offering essentially the same SKU count and features that were designed to make the online shopping experience as efficient as possible. The site is user-friendly and transparent for Canadian customers, offering all products in Canadian currency, quoting freight charges to Canada and providing liaison services between customers and customs.

The 325,000 products offered on both the U.S. and Canada sites, a 70,000 SKU increase from January 2011, are within numerous product categories, such as material handling equipment, office furniture and supplies, maintenance and packing supplies, electrical and janitorial products, and a broad selection of storage and shelving solutions. Most recently, the motors, plumbing, tools and food services categories were expanded. A fasteners line, including screws, bolts and nuts, is the newest product category and was added in February 2011. As new product categories and SKUs are added, they will be available on both the U.S. and Canadian sites.

Richard Leeds, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Systemax, commented, “The launch of the Global Industrial B2B Canadian e-Commerce site enables us to improve the service to and overall experience of our Canadian customers through a more tailored and streamlined site, mirroring the successful functionality of our U.S. site. We have addressed the inconveniences that our Canadian customers were encountering, such as managing customs or recalculating items into local currency, which will directly enhance customer satisfaction. With the new site, Canadian customers can now purchase products and manage accounts online through an interface that is designed to meet their specific needs and offers increased customer support and services.”

Additionally, Global Industrial is now offering a number of new services to better assist customers, including an improved mobile site, an iPhone application and the use of Quick Response Codes. The mobile site offers improved navigation and functionality, with features that make it easier to place orders and access account information through mobile devices. The new iPhone application enables customers to take a photo of a product or ask a question and automatically send it to the Global Industrial research team. In response, the customer will receive current prices and a selection of similar products offered by the Company. Furthermore, Global Industrial is now using Quick Response Codes in their catalogs to aid customers in their search for specific products. Using a Quick Response application, customers can use their smartphone to send a photograph of a code for a specific product featured in a Global Industrial catalog. As a result, the Quick Response application links the customer to more information about that particular product, including latest prices and specials, detailed specifications and information about similar or complementary products.
