NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloomberg Media
today announced the launch of a new prime-time television and
digital series "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer
Conversations." In each episode, acclaimed financier and
philanthropist David M. Rubenstein
interviews one of the world's most influential power players about
their personal and professional journey. As a peer, Rubenstein asks
his guests—including Bill Gates,
Lloyd Blankfein, Indra Nooyi, and
Warren Buffett—frank questions, uncovering the moments that define
how they think, lead, and give back.
David M. Rubenstein is the
co-founder and co-CEO of The Carlyle Group, one of the world's
largest and most diverse private equity groups. A graduate of
Duke and the University of Chicago Law School, he is chairman of
the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts, regent of the Smithsonian Institution, president
of the Economic Club of Washington, and a noted "patriotic
philanthropist" who has loaned his copies of artifacts such as the
Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, and Emancipation
Proclamation to national museums. He also helped fund repairs
to the Washington Monument.
"David is one of America's most accomplished business leaders
and philanthropically motivated citizens," said Bloomberg Media CEO
Justin B. Smith. "He is also a
gifted interviewer, genuinely fascinated by discovering what makes
people who they are. David is singularly qualified to interview the
best minds in business and we're thrilled he's bringing his talents
to Bloomberg's global audience. From these conversations our
viewers will gain unique insights into what makes these titans
tick."
"This is a wonderful opportunity to help a broad audience better
understand the great minds, leaders, and entrepreneurs of our day,"
said David M. Rubenstein. "We
explore life journeys, get at lessons learned, and find wisdom
throughout. They are all titans, but we find the humanity that
makes them real and approachable."
In the first half-hour episode of "The David Rubenstein Show:
Peer-to-Peer Conversations," Rubenstein interviews Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft and co-chair of
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates reflects on being a
self-described "geek" and how his wife and children, and his
mother's death, changed his perspective on work. The episode debuts
as a digital video on Bloomberg.com this morning and airs on
Bloomberg Television this evening at 8 p.m.
ET. The series will then move to Wednesdays, airing on
Bloomberg at 8 p.m. ET, with episodes
available on Bloomberg.com in the morning. Episodes will also
livestream on Bloomberg.com, YouTube, and the Bloomberg terminal.
Subsequent shows will feature interviews with Lloyd Blankfein, chairman and CEO of Goldman
Sachs; Warren Buffett, CEO of
Berkshire Hathaway; Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo;
Kenneth Chenault, chairman and CEO
of American Express; and Eric
Schmidt, chairman of Google's parent, Alphabet, among
others.
State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the asset management
business of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), is the exclusive
sponsor of "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer
Conversations."
Bloomberg Media is the No. 1 publisher of global business video,
