State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT), one of the world’s leading providers of financial services to institutional investors, today announced the appointment of Andrew Kuritzkes to chief risk officer. Kuritzkes will lead a global team of more than 300 multi-disciplinary enterprise risk professionals that support State Street’s business, clients and operations worldwide. He will report to Jay Hooley, State Street’s CEO, and join the company’s Management Committee, State Street’s senior-most strategy and policy-making team.

“In his more than 20-year career, Andy has acquired a depth of knowledge around all facets of risk management from building optimal organizational structures to support the function globally to implementing strategy that is tuned to both market and client needs. In this capacity, he has also worked closely with key regulators around the world,” said Hooley. “Given our goal of continuing to enhance our risk management infrastructure globally, I am confident that Andy has the skill and experience to realize this objective.”

Kuritzkes most recently served as a partner and head of Public Policy with Oliver Wyman, an international management consulting firm. Kuritzkes received a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School, a M. Phil. Degree in economics from Cambridge University and a B.A. degree from Yale College.

Kuritzkes serves as a senior advisor to the US Committee on Capital Markets Regulation and was the primary author of the chapter on bank capital regulation in the Committee’s 2009 blueprint for regulatory reform. He is also a member of the Financial Advisory Roundtable of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He assumes the chief risk officer role from Jeff Carp, State Street’s chief legal officer, who has also served as interim chief risk officer since March.
