State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management
business of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), today announced
the appointment of Raymond Haines as head of UK Liability Driven
Investing (LDI) and Christopher J. Goolgasian, CFA, CPA, CAIA, who
joined SSgA as a senior portfolio manager in the Multi-Asset-Class
Solutions (MACS) group in Boston. The company also announced the
transition of Gregory Taieb from its Montreal office to support the
UK MACS team in London. SSgA’s MACS group provides asset
allocation, LDI and exposure management solutions to clients across
all asset classes globally.
“Our Multi-Asset-Class Solutions team partners with our clients
to address a wide range of challenges which they face in today’s
market environment such as adequately funding pension liabilities,”
said Richard Lacaille, global chief investment officer for State
Street Global Advisors. “The expansion of our MACS team enhances
our ability to effectively deliver customized solutions for
investors to address their changing needs.”
Haines has more than 30 years of financial industry experience
and brings a strong technical investment background from his
previous positions at LV= Asset Management where he was most
recently chief investment officer and at ABN AMRO Bank NV, where he
led the UK Pension Advisory team. He has also previously served as
CIO at Hill Samuel Asset Management and as a pension fund Trustee,
advising public sector funds. At SSgA, he will be responsible for
managing LDI solutions for the UK market, and reports to Joseph
Moody, global head of Liability Driven Investing.
SSgA has been managing tailored LDI solutions for a broad range
of clients since early 2005.
“LDI has increasingly gained momentum amongst plan sponsors over
the past decade as lower interest rates and falling equity markets
have raised concern about a pension asset and liability funding
gap,” said Lacaille. “We can help plan sponsors and their
consultants to design solutions appropriate for individual plan
needs based upon current funding status, risk appetite and
investment guidelines.”
Joining Haines on the London team is Gregory Taieb, a MACS
portfolio manager in Montreal who will relocate to London to
support the company’s continued growth in that market. Taieb, who
will be responsible for portfolio management, research and product
development for UK clients, has served on the MACS team since 2003
and has previously worked in SSgA’s Paris office managing balanced,
LDI and overlay portfolios. He holds a MS in Mathematics and
Statistics (University Paris V - René Descartes) and has a Master
of Finance in the "Institut Superieur du Commerce".
Vincent-Philippe Sicotte will succeed Gregory Taieb as portfolio
manager in Montreal. In this new role, Sicotte will support the
existing client base in Canada. Sicotte joined SSgA in 2006.
Boston-based Goolgasian will be responsible for developing and
implementing multi-asset-class solutions for defined benefit,
defined contribution, and endowment and foundation clients. He
joins State Street from Pyramis Global Advisors, where he was an
institutional portfolio manager. Goolgasian holds a Masters of
Business Administration from Bryant University with a concentration
in Finance as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in
Accounting. He reports to Daniel Farley, CFA, global head of Multi
Asset Class Solutions.
Combined with the local expertise, resources and specialization
of SSgA’s investment teams globally, the MACS group enables its
clients to have a single point to coordinate all of their investing
activities. With SSgA’s global footprint and economies of scale,
its multi-asset-class solutions can provide implementation
flexibility, investment diversification and transaction cost
savings.
