State Street Corporation, the worlds leading provider of financial
services to institutional investors, today announced that it has
received several honors recognizing the companys commitment to
corporate social responsibility and citizenship. For the third
consecutive year, State Street qualified for both the World and
North America Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). State Street
was also recognized by the Boston Business Journal as the areas
top charitable contributor for the third year in a row and received
an award for its partnership with Boston-based nonprofit Year Up.
Launched in 1999, the DJSI track the financial performance of the

corporate governance and risk management practices, environmental
reporting, and corporate citizenship initiatives, among others.
State Street is one of only three financial services firms based in
the US currently listed on both indexes this year. The Boston
Business Journals Corporate Philanthropy Award is presented
annually to the largest corporate charitable contributor in
Massachusetts. In 2007, State Street contributed $33 million to
nonprofit organizations in its headquarters state, including its
own foundation. State Street was also the recipient of the
Education Partner of the Year Award for its multi-year partnership
with Year Up, an intensive training program that provides urban
young adults with technical and professional skills. The
organizations partnership with State Street has resulted in
entry-level job opportunities for Year Up apprentices, funding from
the State Street Foundation and mentoring opportunities. The Boston
Business Journal presented State Street with these awards at its
third annual Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy Summit. Our
inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and receipt of
