O-I Announces President of Europe

PERRYSBURG, Ohio, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Owens-Illinois,
Inc. (NYSE:OI) today announced that Gilberto Restrepo, president,
O-I Europe, has elected to retire after 42 years of service. Mr.
Restrepo will continue serving O-I through December 2006 to
facilitate the transition to his successor, Jean-Marc Arrambourg.

Mr. Arrambourg most recently served as chief operations officer in
Europe. He began his career with the former BSN Glasspack in 1999
as general manager, France, and then went on to serve as managing
director for France and Spain. Prior to joining BSN, Jean-Marc
served as general manager and commercial director at VMC Reims as
well as commercial director and sales manager at Astra Plastique.
"Jean-Marc's knowledge of the European operations and markets will
be invaluable in our efforts to leverage and optimize our European
manufacturing footprint as well as partner with customers to
generate growth and profitability," said Rich Crawford, president,
Global Glass Operations. Mr. Restrepo joined O-I in 1964 as an
industrial engineer for Peldar, the O-I joint venture in Colombia.
He went on to serve as industrial engineering director, production
planning director, and export sales manager for Peldar. In 1971, he
was named marketing manager for Latin America and Spain working out
of Toledo. In 1972, he was named vice president of sales and
marketing for Peldar. Mr. Restrepo was appointed president and
general manager of Peldar in 1982, and was appointed vice president
of international operations in 1994 and elected a vice president of
the Company in 2000. He has also served as general manager, Western
region, Latin America and president of Latin America glass. "Gil
