MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) announced today that multinational
corporations with expatriate employees in Mexico can now access the
MetLife provider network in Mexico of over 700 hospitals and 8,300
providers of healthcare and medical services.
In addition to providing expatriate insureds with better
service, these insureds will be able to take advantage of direct
care in the country where they now reside. The main benefit will be
the services infrastructure through which MetLife operates in
Mexico, with some 700 hospitals and 8,300 physicians and additional
specialists. In addition to the vast provider network, the company
will offer a wide range of services for foreign employees,
including processing of direct payments rather than reimbursements,
local claims processing and customer service located in Mexico
City, negotiated discounts of 10-15% on healthcare services and
direct access to 26 MetLife offices located at the top 26 hospitals
in Mexico. These MetLife offices are home to on-site doctors and
administrators employed by MetLife to assist members with case
management or additional assistance while on-site.
“We are pleased to offer our expatriate benefits customers in
Mexico, some of whom have been with us for decades, enhanced access
to some of the best hospitals in the country and the full suite of
personalized service provided by MetLife medical directors and
support staff co-located in the top hospitals,” said David
Nagengast, assistant vice president, Global Employee Benefits,
MetLife. “We are now providing our customers will a simpler and
lower cost solution to their medical needs that is currently unique
in the Mexican marketplace. Furthermore, the expansion of our
expatriate platform in Mexico is a strategic push that capitalizes
on our truly global footprint and accelerates our momentum in the
expatriate business segment."
The addition of the Mexico network expands MetLife’s expatriate
services offering that is currently available in over 100
countries. And, providing employee benefits – according to the 2011
MetLife International Employee Benefits Trends Study – not only can
help businesses achieve their main objectives (whether to retain
employees or keep them satisfied), but also to overcome the
divergence between different visions of employee and employer
loyalty.
Carmina Abad, MetLife in Mexico CEO, further added, "Employee
benefits are one of our major commitments because we know that
employee loyalty and job satisfaction are linked to benefits
provided by employers; therefore, being able to offer the largest
private medical services network to foreign employees and their
families is a major step in supporting our customers so that they
can maintain and retain their talent, and thus achieve their major
business objectives."
