Kohl’s Donates $25,000 to the American Red Cross for Flood Relief Efforts in the Fargo, N.D. and Moorhead, Minn. Areas

Today Kohl�s (NYSE:KSS) announced a $25,000 cash donation toward
flood relief efforts in Fargo, N.D. and Moorhead, Minn. Kohl�s is
providing this donation to the American Red Cross which is
delivering much-needed emergency assistance throughout the
region.
In addition to a financial contribution, Kohl�s is encouraging
its associates to volunteer in support of cleanup efforts through
its A-Team associate volunteer program. In exchange for volunteer
hours, Kohl�s will make corporate grants to the nonprofit
organizations being supported by Kohl�s associates.
"The families of Fargo and Moorhead are just beginning to deal
with the devastating effects of this flooding," said Julie Gardner,
executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Kohl�s
Department Stores. �We�re fortunate to be in a position to help
with a financial contribution to the American Red Cross as well as
the time and talents of our associate volunteers.�
Kohl�s and its associates are actively involved in the
communities it serves. In 2008, through the A-Team program, more
than 64,000 associates donated more than 216,000 volunteer hours
resulting in more than $5.6 million in grants. Since the program�s
inception in 2001, Kohl�s associates have donated more than 450,000
volunteer hours and the company has matched that effort with more
than $10.8 million in grants.
Kohl�s philanthropic program also includes Kohl�s Cares for Kids
merchandise, like $5 books and plush toys, where 100% of the net
profits go toward supporting hospital partnerships and children�s
health and education initiatives. Through this program, Kohl�s
donated more than $15 million to more than 150 children�s hospital
partners across the country in 2008. In addition, the Kohl�s Kids
Who Care� Scholarship Program recognizes stand-out kids for
volunteer efforts in their communities. In 2008, the initiative
recognized nearly 1,900 kids and awarded almost $340,000 in prizes
and scholarships. The company also offers fundraising gift cards
for schools and youth-serving organizations.
