GlaxoSmithKline Names Jonathan Symonds as Next Chairman

GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.LN) said Wednesday that Jonathan
Symonds, currently deputy chairman of HSBC Holdings PLC (HSBA.LN),
will succeed Philip Hampton as nonexecutive chairman with effect
from Sept. 1.
Mr. Symonds is a former chief financial officer of Novartis AG
(NOVN.EB) and AstraZeneca PLC (AZN.LN), the FTSE 100-listed
pharmaceutical company said. He is currently nonexecutive chairman
of Proteus Digital Health Inc., a nonexecutive director of Rubius
Therapeutics Inc. (RUBY) and chairman of Genomics England Ltd., the
company said.
GlaxoSmithKline is due to report second-quarter earnings later
on Wednesday.
