American hero and Diamond brand ambassador Chad Pfeifer to play in the amateur field at the 2015 Humana Challenge

After graduating college, Chad Pfeifer enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he advanced to the rank of corporal. He was deployed to Iraq in 2007 as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While on his tour of duty in Iraq, Pfeifer's vehicle was hit with a pressurized IED, resulting in significant disability, including the loss of his left leg. As a part of Pfeifer's therapy and recovery he thrust himself into golf. Pfeifer learned how to play the game with his new prosthetic leg. His game progressed quickly and he has since won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 George W. Bush Presidential Center Warrior Open.

Continuing his pursuit of professional golf, Pfeifer will compete in the upcoming Humana Challenge in La Quinta, Calif. on January 21-25, 2015. Caddying for Pfeifer will be veteran PGA Tour caddy Kip Henley. Henley also caddied for the 2013 Humana Challenge winner, PGA Tour professional and Diamond Resorts brand ambassador Brian Gay. In addition, The Golf Channel announced last week that Pfeifer would be a contestant on their immensely popular 2015 Big Break.

"Chad is an inspiring role model both on and off the golf course. He recently played in the 2014 Brian Gay Invitational presented by Diamond Resorts International® and helped raise $805,000 in net proceeds to benefit the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children," said Michael Flaskey, Diamond Resorts International® Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.

"I look forward to representing Diamond Resorts while playing in the Humana Challenge next week. I would also like to say a special thank you to The Clinton Foundation for their invitation to play in the tournament, and represent the Wounded Warriors and their families," said Pfeifer.

"Diamond Resorts International® is incredibly proud for our brand to be associated with Chad Pfeifer. He is an American hero and an inspiration to our great country. Chad and all of our country’s service men and women allow our members, owners and guests the privilege and freedom to Stay Vacationed.™. We wish Chad the best of luck at the Humana Challenge," said Flaskey.
