From Friday, Oct. 7, through Sunday, Oct. 9, ConAgra Foods plans to
pack Kansas Speedway with fun and festivities for race fans of all
ages. The weekend's showcase event is the Banquet(R) 400 Presented
by ConAgra Foods, a NASCAR Nextel Cup race that will be held
Sunday, Oct. 9. The Banquet 400 is the fourth stop on the 10-race
Chase for the Nextel Cup, which determines the Nextel Series
champion. But the fun at Kansas Speedway begins on Friday, Oct. 7.
From the parking lot to the track, attendees will be able to see
and experience the best of NASCAR during the entire weekend. "For
the third year in a row, ConAgra Foods is turning the Banquet 400
into a three-day extravaganza for the entire family," said Jeff
Boerger, president of Kansas Speedway. "In addition to exciting
NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch series racing, race fans can enjoy the
Banquet Fan Fair and several ConAgra Foods products throughout the
weekend. Kansas Speedway is pleased to be teaming up with ConAgra
Foods and its Banquet brand once again for another great weekend of
racing." The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7,
with the Banquet Fan Fair, which serves up a smorgasbord of fun,
food and entertainment for all ages and is located just outside the
main gates of Kansas Speedway. Race fans will be able to sample a
wide range of great-tasting Banquet products, participate in
contests, pick up giveaways, and enjoy entertainment and special
guest appearances throughout the weekend. Meanwhile, the Banquet
400 Tailgate Party Crashers will make their debut on Friday, Oct.
7, combing the parking lots to seek out and reward the most
enthusiastic race fans with a host of great-tasting foods from
Banquet, Hunt's(R), Slim Jim(R) and Eckrich(R). On Saturday, Oct.
8, at 10 a.m., the Bobby Labonte/Joe Gibbs Racing Busch Series pit
crew will take on all comers in the Pit Crew Challenge at the
ConAgra Foods tent, where fans will get a chance to test their
tire-changing skills against the pros. And later that day, veteran
racer Bobby Labonte will take to the track with an in-car camera as
he drives the No. 19 Banquet Chevrolet in the United Way 300 Busch
Series. The United Way 300 is one of eight Busch Series races that
Labonte is driving for ConAgra Foods Racing this year. To provide
fans with even more insight into the race - and a chance to
experience the high-speed raceway from a "virtual" front-seat
perspective inside the car - Labonte will post periodic accounts to
his Web log ("blog") that can be viewed at
www.conagrafoodsracing.com. On Sunday, Oct. 9, ConAgra Foods is
also sponsoring a 30-minute, pre-race concert featuring Miranda
Lambert, a rising star on the country music scene. Lambert, whose
first album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, will sing the
national anthem prior to the race. She first received national
acclaim in 2003 for finishing third in the nationally televised
"Nashville Star" competition. "Our partnership with NASCAR and the
Kansas Speedway is very important to ConAgra Foods and the Banquet
brand because it's a way for us to reach out to many of the people
who enjoy our products every day," said Rich Ferrington, vice
president, Banquet Marketing. "We hope fans have fun both during
the Banquet 400 and at the events leading up to the race." In
addition to the events and activities at the speedway, NASCAR fans
everywhere can get into the action by playing the instant-win
Livin' Like Labonte Sweepstakes at www.banquet400.com whenever they
purchase a Banquet product. Hundreds of fans will win
racing-related prizes, including a trip to the 2006 Banquet 400.
Rules, regulations and prizes can be found on the Web site.
