COLUMBUS, Ga., March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac today
reminded would-be applicants for the position of the new voice of
the Aflac Duck to upload their audition file before 11:59 PM Pacific time tomorrow (April 1). Submissions made after 11:59 PM Pacific time on April 1, 2011, will not be accepted.
In addition to online auditions, Aflac is offering live casting
calls on a limited basis in six cities across the country this
week. Live auditions are by appointment only. Applicants can go to
quackaflac.com today and tomorrow for information on how to secure
an appointment on a first come-first served basis. These try-outs
will be scheduled for a date next week.
"The response to this open casting call has been absolutely
astounding," Aflac Senior Vice
President and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna said. "More than 150,000 people
have visited the job description on Monster.com and/or
quackaflac.com and over 5,100 people auditioned online. We are
confident that the amazing interest in the Aflac Duck will generate
an array of choices for casting callbacks."
Aflac announced a nationwide casting call last week to find a
new voice for the Aflac Duck. The company is looking for someone
who can convey an array of emotions while using a single
word—Aflac—to help consumers understand that Aflac provides a
safety net for policyholders when they are sick or hurt.
Since 2000, the Aflac Duck has appeared in 52 television ads and
numerous radio ads, helping increase the company's brand
recognition from slightly more than 10 percent to an amazing 93
percent. The Aflac Duck is also a symbol for the company's primary
philanthropic cause, helping Aflac raise more than $62 million for the treatment and research of
childhood cancer.
