COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the company
that pays you cash fast when you are sick or hurt, has retained its
coveted spot on FORTUNE magazine's prestigious list of 'Best Places
to Work For' - for the 13th straight year. According to the
Great Place to Work For Institute, Aflac is the only insurance
company to hold a spot on FORTUNE's List of 'Best Places to Work
For' for 13 consecutive years. The industry-leading supplemental
health insurance company appears at Number 57 on the celebrated
list, it was announced today.
"We are proud that Aflac is the only insurance company to appear
for 13 consecutive years on FORTUNE's list of Best Places to Work
For," Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan
Amos said. "This unique milestone illustrates a workplace
consistency that is hard to find at many companies. It is a tribute
to our belief that if you take care of your employees, they will
take care of the business."
In naming the list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE
listed Aflac at Number 3 for childcare benefits, noting
specifically Aflac's on-site program provided for employees – two
thirds of whom are women. The company also ranks as Number 22 among
the 100 best in terms of diversity.
To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners
with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most
extensive employee survey in corporate America. Some 311 companies
participated in this year's survey. Two-thirds of a company's score
is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey,
which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company.
The survey asks questions related to employee attitudes about
management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The
other third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to
the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions
about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions
about hiring practices, internal communications, training,
recognition programs and diversity efforts. Any company that is at
least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is
eligible.
The full list and related stories appear in the February issue
of FORTUNE magazine, available on newsstands on Monday, January 24. The list is currently
available online at FORTUNE magazine's website.
